About Me

Ever since I was little, I've enjoyed creating things. Whether it was whipping up gourmet meals for my dolls using berries and other organic substances in the yard, creating an elaborate mail system to communicate from fort to fort, or trying to sneak ingredients to bake my mom a birthday cake from scratch while she was at home. . .I could keep busy for hours on end. My sister was the realist who always responded to my brilliant ideas in a flat tone, "that will never work." Looking back, I am thankful for her skepticism because without it, I never would have worked so hard to prove her wrong!

Over the years, paper seems to have remained my favorite creative medium. I remember making the most intricate paper doll outfits inspired by Vanna White's wardrobe and telling my mom that when I grew up I wanted to gift wrap packages for a living. These days, you can find evidence of my passion in page after page of scrapbooked memories and handmade cards.

I am blessed to be married to my soul mate. My husband Matt does contract work as a graphic designer. We've enjoyed 11 years of perfectly artistic wedded bliss, aside from a few minor arguments now and then as to what color a room should be painted or how the yard should be landscaped. . .a small price to pay for living with a fellow creative soul.

In December of 2008, we welcomed our son Kaden and in May of 2010 our daughter Carissa came in to the world. It's been a full two years of exciting moments as Matt and I have been able to experience seeing the world through the eyes of our children. They already show signs of becoming as creative, stubborn, and passionate as both their parents. They have given me lots of new material for my scrapbook albums and inspired me to think more deeply about my journaling and the legacy I want to leave behind.

When we aren't occupied with the kids and our creative pursuits, Matt and I enjoy gardening, biking, and spending time with teenagers from church. We both have a burden to show others that the reason for our existence is to bring glory to God, the Ultimate Creator and Artist. If even "the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands" (Psalm 19:1) then I believe I too was blessed with specific talents and abilities to use as a reflection of God at work in my life.
