Fun Stuff

A couple of fun craft ideas I stumbled on recently are collaged magnets and moveable paper dolls. I read in a magazine about making miniature collages to adhere to the backs of the glass pebbles you can find at Wal-Mart and other craft stores. You adhere your miniature piece of artwork to the flat side of the pebble with crystal adhesive, then glue a magnet to the back. If you add words to your collage, you'll have an artistic version of the popular magnetic poetry to give as a gift! A decorated tin would make the perfect container for the magnets.

About the paper dolls. . . I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and absolutely fell in love with the book Paper Fashions. I loved paper dolls as a kid and I’m still working on a way to incorporate them in to a project. Since my mind was on the subject, I did an internet search and discovered a website with a free jointed paper doll template and suggestions for alternative materials to use in making them. Among the suggestions was shrink plastic. How great of an idea is that! I have three nieces and I don’t think a doll made up of paper would hold up for any of them, but shrink plastic? Great idea. Can’t wait to try it!
